Bundle, accessories and warranty

The ULTIMATE SKU is also the beneficiary of a packaging makeover. We're always wary that special packaging often pushes up the price of a product. The Sapphire X1950 Pro ULTIMATE, however, retails for a reasonable £145, which is around £15 more than the bog-standard version.

The retail bundle includes a full version of Eidos' Just Cause, a Grand Theft Auto-like adventure game that's received decent reviews. Quality bundled games are becoming a rarity these days and it's refreshing to see Sapphire keep up its trend of providing the choice from a selection (Sapphire Select) or, in this case, a new title from a respected publisher.

The hardware base is covered well. There's the ubiquitous DVI dongles, a single CrossFire bridge (the other CrossFire-forming one will be provided by the complementing card), RCA, S-Video, and component cables. The aforementioned power adapter is present, along with PowerDVD 6 and a driver CD.

We've probably said this a hundred times before, but everything you need for basic operation is provided.

Warranty considerations

All of Sapphire's graphics cards are backed up by a 2-year warranty. Claims in the first year are handled by the supplier from whom the card was purchased from. Claims after this period are handled by a U.K.-based service centre.
