  • Pixel and Vertex Shaders: Yes (all tests) PS1.1/1.4/2.0

Overclocked FX 5900 Ultra wins for a 2nd time for the NVIDIA boards, beating 9800XT comfortably in 3DMark03. Pixel Shader performance for the 8 pixel pipeline cards appears odd, with a jump in performance over 9800XT when IQ is applied and pixel count goes up. It's very repeatable however, possibly driver related.

While 3DMark03 isn't a real world game test, and many argue its use of DirectX 9.0 features in no way reflect how a well coded game engine would use them, it's a valid DX9.0 test nonetheless.

9600XT gets beaten by FX 5700 Ultra yet again, NV36's improved pixel shader performance versus the 5600 Ultra helps it do the job.

Notes

No apparent IQ issues, bar slightly visible texture boundaries in some parts of the Nature test for the NV35, NV36 and NV38 boards, especially when the scene switches to the view of stones by the river, you can see mip stage levels clearly on the stones in the distance. Trilinear issues again I believe. No issues on 9600XT or 9800XT.
