Comanche 4

Comanche 4 is fairly subsystem tied and the graphics card doesn't really come in to it until we give it more work to do. So baseline first as usual.

Hmm, not quite what we saw with 3DMark 2001SE. The driver can handle a 3DMark 2001SE type scenario better? IQ on now.

The gap appears to close up, but looks can be deceiving. We're more interested in the drop in performance rather than average framerate in this review.

As the resolution gets pushed up and the card has nearly 2 million pixels to generate, per frame, over 16 times a second in the FX5600 Ultra's case, and it manages to sneak into the lead. PD graph now, just for fun.

With the FX5600 Ultra losing 15% less performance during the switch to high resolution, we can see why it sneaks in to the lead in that test. But as far as Comanche 4 is concerned, at the most common game resolution and settings, it's slower than the ATI. Quake3 next.
