Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is a little difficult to benchmark in standard form. To ensure the game doesn't use card-specific setting, the extreme quality add-on is used. The inbuilt anisotropic filtering is disabled until needed. NVIDIA's cards automatically apply a 16-bit z-buffer as the game doesn't specify depth. To match ATi's 24-bit approach, a 24-bit z-buffer is implemented from the console.
The NVIDIA cards seem to do amazingly well here. Looking at the demo, it appears as both cards are using the same settings, it's just favours the FX cards, much like Quake III. The taxing Sierra De Chiapas demo was used at each resolution.
