3DMark 11 is the latest version of this hugely-popular synthetic benchmark. Making use of DX11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders and multi-threading, it provides modern-day results and is available as a free download.
3DMark 11 shows a slight preference for the NVIDIA Kepler architecture. The new Radeon HD 7970 is just over eight per cent quicker than the now-available version, mind. Notice how the gap to the GeForce closes as the resolution is increased? This is where the extra memory-bandwidth advantage begins to tell.
