HD 4850 and 4870Ā  lose their way a little in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition but are redeemed by CrossFire performance.

Summary

The on-paper specifications don't quite match up with our benchmark evaluation. Yes, the Radeon HD 4800-series is a step forward compared to Radeon 38x0, but we expected a little more from single-GPU rendering.

The Radeon HD 4870 is, arguably, faster than the GeForce 9800 GTX and GTX+ cards, reinforcing its pricing, and the HD 4850 dices with the G92s. Now you can see why NVIDIA's had to drop its sell-on pricing and promise some money-back protection to its partners.
