Fillrate and shading

Let's take a look at the cards' basic vital statistics.

Card ASUS EN6800 Ultra ATI RADEON X850 XT PE ATI RADEON X850 XT
Interface/speed PCI-Express PCI-Express PCI-Express
Onboard memory 256MB 256MB 256MB
Core speed 425MHz 540MHz 520MHz
Rendering pipelines 16 16 16
Fillrate (multi-texturing) 6.8GTexels/s 8.64GTexels/s 8.32GTexels/s
Memory interface 256-bit 256-bit 256-bit
Memory speed 1100MHz 1180MHz 1080MHz
Memory bandwidth (max) 35.2GB/s 37.76GB/s 34.56GB/s

Looking now at how theoretical figures match up with 3DMark05's fillrate and shading tests.

Decent single-texturing performance is offset by relatively low multi-texturing, thanks to the RADEONs' faster core speeds. It's all big numbers here, folks.

Pixel shading runs mighty smooth on these top-end cards, as you can see.

Vertex shading, both simple and complex, is ATI's domain.
