X², UT2003, Quake III
X²'s turn now. Run at 800x600 to minimise the effects of even a Radeon 9800XT.
VIA's K8T800 chipset has always done well in this test, far more so than the otherwise comparable NVIDIA nForce3 150. No surprises to see the latest ClawHammer take top spot by a comfortable margin.

Our Unreal Tournament test is a custom bot match run at 800x600 resolution. The Suntemple is used as a setting. Bot tests, given a graphics card that can pass the load on the subsystem, are an excellent method of determining how much throughput we're experiencing. The Model 3400+ has no peer from this crop. Only the FX-51, we reckon, could eclipse it's near-200FPS scores.

It's evident that the Prescott Pentium 4 needs to come, and come soon. AMD has been able to ratchet up the ClawHammer's speed with disarming ease, and AMD openly state that it's firmly second in line to the FX-51. What will happen when the 939-pin CPU arrives on the scene. Unburdened from the handicap that registered memory still imposes in pure performance terms, it's looking good for Advanced Micro Devices right now.
