You know, a Cinebench score of 3,722, or 11 per cent higher than Core i9-7980XE, would have been stellar 18 months ago. The HEDT landscape has changed massively in that period, though, and Intel's finest consumer processor, as fast as it is, cannot get close to the multi-die Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX.

Still, it remains very good for running multiple light loads quickly. Think virtualisation scenarios.
