The snappily-named SSM-85H5SX is Lite-On IT's latest slim, external USB DVD burner. The £73 product can burn labels to LightScribe discs and write to CD-R, CD-RW and all standard DVD media, including RAM, +/-R and both types of two-layer DL format.
It's due around now and its compact size means that road-warriors and notebook users are the main target. Burning and reading speeds are nothing to write home about but, as our recent world-exclusive review of the Samsung SE-S184 18x USB DVD burner makes clear, speed isn't everything.
