Best Mainboard, Most Innovative Product

Best Mainboard

Now this being Computex 2006 and based in Taiwan, you just know that it’s going to be a mainboard-fest with loads of manufacturers and partners showing off the latest in PCB goodness. So it was something of a relief that ABIT came out so strongly with their rather sexy IL-80MV, an Intel 945GT board with Core Duo support. Sure, we’ve seen plenty of Core Duo boards but this one is aimed directly at the Media PC market as it also features an HDMI connection and all crammed onto a micro-ATX form factor.

So take a bow, ABIT, for winning the HEXUS Best Mainboard Award.

Most Innovative Product

This was another potentially contentious area with everything from MP3 players and USB memory sticks through to heat spreaders and hard drive caddies all boasting a ‘new’ feature or innovation. Of course, all these bits of kit did catch our eye but one stood out from the crowd. So the HEXUS Computex 2006 Award for Most Innovative Product goes to Thecus for the N1200, network storage solution . Accepting the Award for Most Innovative Product from our very own David Ross are Florence Shih and Maggie Lin. And yes, we know that David is wearing a cracking shirt, just like Magnum P.I.!
