They do exist, honest

AMD is in a bit of a quandary about the upcoming launch of the Radeon HD 6850 and Radeon HD 6870 GPUs.

The sales department is ecstatic over the numerous leaks that have popped up in recent weeks, as there's little better than whetting the appetite of enthusiasts before a big launch.

Meanwhile, the PR dept. is frantically attempting to quash these leaks as soon as they appear, ostensibly because it wants to ensure full-on coverage on the official day of release.

In a move orchestrated to appease the competing factions within AMD, the company has decided to go all official and enable worldwide press to disclose pictures, but not specs, of the two GPUs that it hopes will reinforce its mid-range offerings for Q4 2010.

You can probably guess the size of the PCB by the relative dimensions of the PCI-Express connector.

What's this? Has all the conjecture been right? The card is outfitted with two DVI ports, HDMI, and two mini-DisplayPort. Interesting. I wonder what multi-display technology a single Radeon HD 6850 can drive.

The Batman-esque reference design theme continues over from the Radeon HD 5000-series. Notice the single CrossFire connector? Out goes four-way CrossFireX, you would think.

Now this is telling. The card is equipped with a single six-pin PCIe connector. Do the math and you'll work out that the power-draw is below 150W.
