AMD COMMENCES PRODUCTION SHIPMENT OF MIRRORBITTM FLASH
MEMORY DEVICES

Breakthrough Technology Enables High Density NOR Flash
With No Compromise On Parametrics

SUNNYVALE, CA-JULY 15, 2002-AMD (NYSE: AMD) today
announced that, after widely sampling AMD MirrorBitTM Flash memory devices to
major corporations, the company has commenced production shipments of the first
member of this family of breakthrough products.

AMD MirrorBit Flash memory devices offer a highly
reliable, cost-effective, higher-density non-volatile memory solution, which
enables AMD customers to develop highly-advanced, feature-packed products. It is
the ideal choice for a wide range of applications in a variety of market
segments such as cellular, handheld peripherals, set-top boxes, automotive,
networking and telecommunications. The company is shipping a 64 Megabit device
and is on schedule to deliver 128 Megabit and 256 Megabit devices in the second
half of the year.

"Our customers are very enthusiastic about our MirrorBit
Flash memory devices and eager to adopt them because MirrorBit enables our
customers to bring their product visions to reality," said Bertrand Cambou,
group vice president of AMD's Memory Group. "The MirrorBit product family is the
culmination of years of work and dedication with a focus on our customers'
needs."

AMD MirrorBit architecture is a breakthrough technology
that allows Flash memory devices to hold twice as much data as standard NOR
Flash devices without compromising device endurance, performance or reliability.
NOR Flash devices are commonly used to store and execute operating system
software for many of the world's electronic products. By delivering cost
effective, high-density NOR Flash devices, AMD MirrorBit Flash memory devices
enable customers to develop feature-rich cell phones, personal digital
assistants, car PCs, telecommunications equipment, TV set-top boxes, and other
products.

AMD MirrorBit Flash memory devices also offer system
designers an easy to use solution by maintaining complete pin-compatibility with
existing AMD Flash product families. The packages and pinouts provide an easy
migration path all the way to future 1Gigabit Flash memory storage.
