Scythe's First Venture into VGA Cooling

Scythe has today announced the pending release of their very first VGA cooler. The oddly named Musashi, named after the one of the Japan's battleships, is compatible with ATI's 4870 and NVIDIA's GTX280 graphics card as well as a host of other cards.

The cooler features two U-shaped copper heatpipes which transfers heat from the GPU onto around 84 aluminium fins. Two large 100mm fans then direct airflow over the fins and down onto the main body of the graphics card, which keeps the whole card cool. Both fans can be controlled independently by a PCI fan controller that attaches to a spare PCI back plate.

Because no graphics card is the same Scythe also supply plenty of different sized heatsinks to cool RAM and VRM chips.

Due for release on 24 October at Quietpc.com, which strangely happens to the same date the Musashi battleship sank back in 1944!

RRP - £36.99

Release date : October 24

Pre-order : http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/ati-vga/musashi

Other resellers will have the product for sale around one week after launch.
