3DMark Time Spy and Stress Test

Rendered at QHD or UHD resolutions and making use of DX12 technologies such as asynchronous compute, explicit multi-adapter and multi-threading, Time Spy is a modern 3DMark benchmark that hints at GPU potential in today's latest games.

Being over 2x faster than GTX 960 is wholly expected once we appreciate the specification, architecture, and elapsed time between launches.

GeForce GTX 1060, meanwhile, puts in a decent account of itself. The GTX 1660 is, of course, faster, though the 30 per cent uptick at QHD isn't startling.

Pragmatically, we'd need at least that 30 per cent framerate improvement for us to consider a GPU upgrade from the equivalent 10-series card.

What's also clear is that no partner needs to have an elaborate cooling setup on these midrange GPUs. Gigabyte's cooler, albeit basic, is more than up to the job of keeping the TU116 GPU in check.
