Some would call it the ultimate turn-based strategy game, and who are we to argue? Civilization VI is an excellent way to lose a few hours, and with more expansive empires than ever before, a capable PC is needed to experience the game at its very best.

GTX 960's biggest stumbling block is its paltry 2GB framebuffer. Its second biggest problem is a lack of horsepower. That noisome combination is enough to ensure the card cannot play Civilization VI at high-quality FHD. Yes, one can turn the detail all the way down to get playable framerates... but should you have to?

GTX 1060 is a much better fit for this game. Given the nature of Civilization VI, even QHD performance is acceptable.

GTX 1660 Ti, meanwhile, adds about 30 per cent on top. In other words, if you have a GTX 1060 or, perhaps, Radeon RX 480 8GB, then Nvidia's newest Turing GPU doesn't do enough to warrant an insta-upgrade.
