Conclusion

So am I pleased with the setup? Hell yeah, I am currently sat here running SETI on an Athlon XP 2000 with Zero fans except the PSU fans at 50 degrees, it is fairly hot in here to with the central heating too.

Before I embarked on my WaterCooling journey I ran with 2 80mm case fans, a Zalman flower with the fan running at 12v and the extraction fan in the Enermax PSU also running on high.

The loudest things in my PC are now the Hard disks (a 60gb Maxtor and an 80gb Seagate) so I guess my mission has been accomplished.

The Eheim pump is a lot quieter than I was expecting as people had told me that the 1250's although known for their throughput was the noisier of the Eheim range. I have to say I am 100% happy with the outcome of this project and would now recommend WaterCooling to anyone looking to get max performance from their rig without having to put up with ear splitting noise!

Pro's and Con's

Well the Pro's consist of:

  • Low Temps
  • Low Noise
  • Extra Headroom for Overclocking
  • Bragging rights over air cooled peeps! :)

On the downside, the Con's consist of:

  • Cost
  • Fear of Water + Electricity

At the end of the day, you get what you want if you do it "your way", I did and have ended up with a system that has high performance and low noise, perfect!

Thanks

My thanks go to Jess at www.OverclockedPC.co.uk for setting with up with the kit I needed, and the advice given when I needed it. Jess is often around on channel #coolhardware on irc.quakenet stick your head in there if you have any queries and I'm sure he'll help out.
