With great power comes responsibility

So, you’re legging it about, rescuing people and beating up bad guys, but the bottom screen says you’ve still got two guys to rescue/beat/rescue and beat. Where are they? Hmm, well, the levels are nice and large and maze like in places but you’ve got absolutely NO indication of where ANYTHING is on the level at all. So that last bad guy and last hostage could be anywhere at all. You job is to go legging it all over the entire level and find them so you can move on.

Now, couple the large levels with a lack of being able to see what’s ahead and you can easily lose lots of health just running around and not even fighting anyone. Where’s the fun in that? I know, I could take it nice a slow, edge along checking what’s up ahead… Ahh, well the problem there is that each level has an incredibly tight time limit. It doesn’t matter if you go over the limit, you don’t lose anything, but at the same time you don’t get access to special power ups unless you do complete in time.

This makes already challenging levels even harder. Level 2, for example, sees you rounding up 23 escaped prisoners. To get the bonus you have to do it under 5 minutes. I challenge anyone to do that level in under 5 minutes without having at least half a dozen goes. I cleared the entire level except for one bad guy in 4 minutes 20 seconds and then spent another 13 minutes looking for him… No, though Spiderman looks good in tight spandex, tight views and tight times to match him aren’t good. Why couldn’t they have included some sort of map on that vastly under used touchscreen, or made better use of Spidey sense and at least given us an arrow to point towards the guys we need to hit/rescue?
