Defend Truth, Justice and the RTS way.

FFvTTR is to all intents and purposes an RTS with a few twists. First off, there’s a touch an RPG element to the game with the building up of character’s experience to then allow you to level them up. The combat tips more than a passing nod to RPG turn based combat, but in real time… which sounds odd, I know, but its all about repeat attack rates, resistance to types of attack, speed and agility and the like. Between missions you gain access to new characters and can spend experience points on increasing the powers of characters already in your squad.

Control in-game is easy and intuitive with a great ‘auto-pause’ option which allows you to allocate attack styles and targets to each character if you wish, and sometimes, you’ll want to do that, believe me. Combat is all handled by the game and can carry on without your intervention once initiated, or you can pause the action, switch attacks and then carry on. One thing that did stand out at this stage is the character’s lack of response to being attacked, however, I am playing preview code, so this is by no means a final version and things could change.
