We know how much you PC gamers will be desperate to get your hands on Grand Theft Auto IV, but how do you feel about it being a Games For Windows exclusive?

That's right, if you purchase GTA IV you'll have to subscribe to the Games for Windows live service to play it.

Games for Windows Live launched last year with Shadowrun and Halo 2 offering cross-platform matches between Xbox 360 and PC players. Since then, however, the service has struggled.

What better way then to swell it's low subscription figures than by making one of the most anticipated games of the year a Games For Windows Live exclusive.

Luckily, prospective GTA IV owners will be glad to hear that the yearly Gold membership that was initially charged for subscribing to the service was scrapped back in July.

The GFW exclusives don't stop there either. Expect to sign up to the service if you want to play Fallout 3, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and Activision's James Bond: Quantum of Solace.

Sign away folks.

Well it's free to sign up so I don't really have a problem with that.

Why should we be forced to sign up? What benefit does the gamer get from this, or is it purely a financial benefit for Take-Two and another annoyance for the end user?

Got to agree there. Why do people need to sign up to windows live!? Its just an annoyance and something to force a bigger user base onto windows live. No doubt MS paid a nice sum for this.

I've had it on PS3 since launch and can't remember the last time I played it in all honesty. Its the only game I've bought on release for £40 on the PS3 and I won't be doing it again!
