Gamers Prepare for Combat at SE Asia’s Largest IT Complex

With the conclusion of the KODE5 Taiwan Finals, and the announcement of several other KODE5 events around the world, the gaming community has been waiting for the next launch for KODE5. Today, KODE5, in association with VR-Zone, is proud to kick off KODE5 South East Asia – an event which covers one of the fastest-growing areas of the world for e-sports. KODE5 South East Asia invites gamers from Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore to participate in a tournament featuring Counter-Strike 1.6 and Warcraft III: Frozen Throne. The top placing team/player from each game will represent South East Asia at the KODE5 Global Finals in September! Supported globally by Foxconn, Corsair Memory, and Razer, and supported regionally by many others, the KODE5 Global Gaming Revolution takes competitive gaming to an international stage with events being held in 20+ countries worldwide.

Details for the KODE5 South East Asia event are as follows:

KODE5 South East Asia Regional Qualifier

Singapore is known to be a gaming hub for the SEA region, having hosted a number of international gaming tournaments. This year, from August 19th to 20th, KODE5 and VR-Zone will be hosting the KODE5 SEA Regional Qualifier at the Funan Digitalife Mall in Singapore. As one of Asia’s leading IT complexes, the Funan Digitalife Mall is a great place to showcase competitive gaming in SEA to a mainstream audience.

VR-Zone was founded by Terence in 1999 which started off as a hobby site talking about hardware news, reviews, technology, overclocking and anything which is deemed interesting to the hardware enthusiasts. VR-Zone has now evolved into one of the best source for computer hardware news and reviews and is widely recognized by the hardware community and companies.

“VR-Zone is proud to be the main organizer for KODE5 SEA and we are happy to announce that this event will also be opened to our neighboring SEA countries,” says VR-Zone Founder Terence “Visionary” Lee. “I believe it will be one of the most anticipated events this year, and I hope that through KODE5 we can promote professional gaming, sportsmanship and friendship among the Singaporean gamers and the SEA gamers.”

Gamers will be able to register for this exciting event either through the Gamers.com.sg website (www.gamers.com.sg), or by visiting the VR-Zone office.

Gamers.com.sg aims to bring Singapore competitive or non-competitive gamers together under one big family and we also aim to promote sportsmanship and friendship among all gamers in Singapore, bringing readers the latest Gaming reviews, previews, beta games, news, gaming exhibition and events coverage.

Handling shoutcasting duties and marshalling the event will be Focusplay. Focusplay, backed by Sing-Gium International, is a nonprofit organisation with a website and online community dedicated for both serious and casual gamers. Focusplay was commissioned by Sing-Gium to be their gaming department for the South-East Asia region.

Clan X3M was founded in the year 2000 and is currently 63 members strong in 5 divisions. The Clan actively contributes to the gaming scene in the form of events and projects and is proud of the results these activities have garnered. At KODE5 SEA, X3M will be in handling most of the logistics at the event, including registration, event programs, and event security.

“Joining KODE5 gives Foxconn a platform to show what our hardware is capable of,” says Massarow Syen, Foxconn APAC Marketing Manager. “We are pleased to provide some cutting-edge hardware for use at the competition in order to provide gamers with the smoothest gaming experience possible.”

“Corsair is excited to support KODE5 in South East Asia,” notes Scott Thirlwell, APAC Sales Director for Corsair Memory. “SE Asia is a hotbed for gaming and overclocking and we've seen some of the best gamers and overclockers come out South East Asia. I expect that the winners of SE Asia will contend for the KODE5 championship.”

“SEA is home to some of the world’s most enthusiastic and dedicated gamers,” says KODE5 Revolutionary-in-Command Lester Lau. “By partnering witih VR-Zone and Gamers.com.sg, we are able to spread our message of gaming to the entire SEA area. KODE5 is excited to bring this event to the world.”
