The thermal performance of the card - reference, remember - is pretty darn good, beating out the old GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB and taking the Radeons to task.

The gaming benchmarks haven't shown a great deal of difference in results, but the idle power-consumption figure is markedly better than the outgoing/relabelled 9800 GTX+. Used eight hours and day and five days a week, the 250 SC will save you around £6 a year. Not much, granted, but every little helps.

Load power-draw is defined as running 3DMark06 at 1,920x1,200 at 4xAA and 16xAF, and all cards, bar the Radeon HD 4850 512MB, cause the Core i7 system to chew through more than 200W.
