The news

While a rolling stone might gather no moss, one of 'em, Stones' bassman Bill Wyman, is setting out to help us gather old dross - in the hope that some will turn into treasure.

Bill has put his name to a metal detector made by C.Scope - the Bill Wyman Signature Detector - and available at £125 (including VAT and deliver) from billwymandetector.com, perhaps with a mind to gathering a bit more dosh.

According to the info that landed in our in-box - in hard-to-extract PDF format (thank the Lord for OCR software and a curse on witless PRs) - "former Rolling Stone" Bill is a "passionate archaeological enthusiast", and has "created his own metal-detector to share the experience and thrill of historical discovery".

Since we can't actually find a detector on C.Scope's site that appears to have the same specs and pricing as Bill's Signature model, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
