Press release

Following the £1 million acquisition of their new HQ, Interactive Ideas expand Enterprise Reseller team with building of a software renewals team

Enfield, London, 1st March 2010, Interactive Ideas, one of the UK's leading value-added Software and Technology distributors, announced today the building of a renewals team and the appointment of Haleem Hoque as their first renewals specialist.

Differing software licensing and subscription models for both proprietary and open source software, plus the complex nature of managing the data involved to pro-actively target the important recurring revenue that subscription and maintenance renewals offer, Interactive have now created the dedicated renewals specialist position to make the process as easy as possible for the reseller channel and provide valuable support to key vendor partners such as Red Hat, Solarwinds, Novell, Acronis and Sunbelt.

Mike Trup, Managing Director for Interactive Ideas commented "The proprietary software industry is finally coming to understand the full value of renewal income. This has long been the case in Open Source where the subscription model means that you are always paying for ‘current value' rather than historic intellectual property."

Mike continued " Software licensing and subscriptions is complex enough at the best of times, but when you add the complexities of co-termination, upgrades, downgrades and all the other variants, managing renewal data alone is confusing. By building our renewals team and data engine, we aim to help both our vendors and our reseller partners maximise the business opportunity presented by renewals."

Nigel Wright, Sales Director, Abtech UK commented "Abtech always strives to keep our customers fully informed of the status of their Red Hat subscriptions and provide accurate information when they need to renew them. Part of our value is being able to offer our customers different renewal options, particularly co-terminations. Having a dedicated renewals resource available at Interactive Ideas will certainly enhance the service we offer."

Petra Heinrich, Director of Partners and Alliances, EMEA at Red Hat, commented "As the current Red Hat EMEA Distributor of the Year, Interactive Ideas has proven that they have considerable skills and are willing to invest in supporting Red Hat growth, the addition of a dedicated Renewals Specialist is another superb example of this."

Heinrich continued "For Red Hat and our channel partner's the recurring subscription revenue is 100% of the year one value. Our subscription model allows Red Hat and its partners to create a mutually beneficial, cyclical relationship with customers offering low-cost, high value solutions."
