Digital Media Experience Powered by New NVIDIA nForce3 Media and Communications Processors
COMPUTEX - TAIPEI, TAIWAN - SEPTEMBER 23, 2003 - NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in visual processing solutions, today introduced a new family of NVIDIA nForce(tm)3 media and communications processors (MCPs). Designed to leverage the power of the AMD Athlon(tm) 64 FX and Athlon 64 processors announced earlier today, NVIDIA nForce3 MCPs provide PC enthusiasts, workstation professionals and mobile users with core system technology that delivers maximum performance, reliability, and compatibility for 64-bit and 32-bit computing environments enabled by the AMD64 platform.
With the new nForce3 MCPs, NVIDIA now has a full family of 64-bit and 32-bit MCPs for the new line of AMD 64-bit CPUs for the desktop PC market; nForce3 Professional for the 1P and 2P workstation and professional segments and nForce3 Go for the mobile notebook market.
"With the new AMD64 processors, the computing industry is taking the next step towards providing technology capable of delivering cinematic computing across all digital media platforms," said Dan Vivoli, executive vice president of marketing at NVIDIA. "Our new NVIDIA nForce3 MCP family extends our reach into untapped markets and demonstrates our technology prowess in a number of new areas, including high-speed networking, storage and connectivity."
The NVIDIA nForce3 MCPs integrate hardware and software technologies that expand desktop functionality and provide the ultimate digital media PC experience. By providing built-in connections for high-speed Gigabit networks; Serial ATA disk controllers; up to eight USB 2.0 ports and integrated RAID solutions, the NVIDIA nForce3 MCPs deliver accelerated performance for multiple computing environments. When combined with the robust NVIDIA® ForceWare(tm) Unified Software Environment (USE), including utilities for monitoring system performance, settings, audio environments, hard drive configurations and more, the digital media experience is complete.
"NVIDIA and AMD technology are highly regarded in the enthusiast PC community and the combined power and performance of the NVIDIA nForce3 MCPs along with the new AMD Athlon 64 FX processors will take your breath away," said Dirk Meyer, senior vice president, AMD's Computation Products Group. "Together, NVIDIA and AMD are reshaping the technology and PC architectures needed to offer a simplified and immersive cinematic computing experience."
PC systems and motherboards based on the NVIDIA nForce3 Pro 150, NVIDIA nForce3 150, and NVIDIA nForce3 Go 150 MCPs are currently in mass production and are available from leading manufacturers, including: ABIT Computer Corp., AOpen, ASUSTeK Computer Inc., Biostar Microtech Int'l Corp., Chaintech Computer Co. Ltd., DFI, EPoX International Inc., Giga-Byte Technology, Jetway Information Co. Ltd., Leadtek, MSI, Shuttle Computer Group, Inc., Soltek Computer Inc. and XFX.
