We've already given the lowdown on the P8Z68-V PRO, but ASUS is also working on expanding its high-end ROG line-up, with two new SKUs powered by Intel's freshly-released Z68 chipset.

ASUS teases that both the Maximus IV Extreme-Z and Maximus IV GENE-Z mainboards utilise the ROG Extreme Engine Digi+ VRM for hearty power delivery, and of course, include a slew of usual ROG inclusions - such as ROG Connect (with GPU TweakIt) functionality. The Maximus IV Extreme-Z goes with a complement of four PCIe x16 slots, delivering CrossFireX and 3-way SLI support - with mention of NVIDIA's NF200 chipset too. The pint-sized Maximus IV GENE-Z, goes for a dual PCIe x16 configuration, plus CrossFireX and SLI support.

The Z68 chipset brings along Intel's Smart Response Technology to the fray, and ASUS adds support for LucidLogix Virtu GPU virtualisation technology as well. With the Maximus IV Extreme-Z going for d-mode only support, its sibling - together with an HDMI graphics output - steps up for both d-mode and i-mode functionality.

There's no word on availability or pricing just yet, but rumours suggest that both new offerings will be paraded at Computex.
