Drooling permitted

If graphics cards float your boat, you can't have escaped the launch of AMD's Radeon HD 6990 today. As you'd expect, we gave you our in-depth analysis on this graphical behemoth this morning

We've seen a flurry of announcements from the likes of HIS and MSI peddling their wares based on AMD's latest and greatest, but let's drool over Sapphire's first HD 6990 iteration right now.

The dual-GPU jewel in Sapphire's crown ships with 4GB GDDR5 memory, running at speeds of 1,250MHz (5,000MHz effective), and features dual BIOS functionality to accommodate the selection between core clock speeds of 830MHz and 880MHz, respectively.

Cooling duties are managed by a reference-based solution, with Sapphire using a red colour palette and distinctive imagery to make a visual impact in the beauty stakes, and undoubtedly, make for an all-round more eye-catching experience too.

If this has now become sensory-overload and the temptation proves insuppressible, we've provided the 4-1-1 on launch day pricing and availability too!
