Expanding its SandForce-powered Inferno line of SSDs, Patriot Memory has announced the launch of three new flavours - in the form of 60GB, 120GB and 240GB varieties.

Tapping into the potential of the SandForce SF-1222 controller, Patriot's new additions add to the original line-up of 100GB and 200GB editions, for the delivery of read and write speeds of up-to 285MB/s and 275MB/s, respectively, across the range.

Trumpeting the 60GB iteration, Patriot is particularly keen to highlight its suitability as a boot drive - part of a high performance system - and goes on to express, that the quoted read/write performance is more impressive when the 24K IOPS (write) speed with 4K file sizes, is taken into consideration. This leads to the company positively gushing about its Inferno range being 'optimised' for enthusiast use, as a primary system boot drive.

It is also said that the pursuit of harmony has concluded with all Inferno SSDs being paired-up with 'specially screened' MLC NAND Flash to, reportedly, deliver a powerful performance punch.

As expected, SandForce DuraClass technology is also part of the fusion and is said to positively impact endurance and reliability - over traditional SSD controllers - by adopting Wear-Leveling and 'innovative' write technologies.

Thoughtfully including a 2.5in to 3.5in adapter plate within the package, Patriot wraps its parcel up with a 3-year warranty for good measure, though this appears to be reduced from the 5-year warranty period that accompanied earlier offerings.

Pricing and availability information was not available, at the time of going to press.

Sweet. I'm gonna contact Patriot about reviewing one of these :D
Don't like the trend of reducing warranty length. Crucial, Patriot, and maybe others dropping to three years.
