Seems Acer's in the mood to launch revamped Aspire One netbooks.

Following on from yesterday's unveiling of the Aspire One 533, the Taiwanese manufacturer is today introducing the new Aspire One D260.

The 10.1in system, pictured above, arrives as a successor to last year's Aspire One D250 and continues to offer dual-boot functionality* by incorporating both Google Android and Microsoft Windows 7 operating systems.

Offering a basic 1,024x600 display, the Aspire One D260 measures just 258.5mm x 185mm x 24mm and weighs 1.25kg. Inside, Acer has equipped the unit with a choice of two Intel configurations; a 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor with 1GB of DDR2 memory or a 1.66GHz Atom N455 processor with 2GB of DDR3 memory.

That's joined by integrated Intel GMA 3150 graphics, up to 250GB of hard-disk capacity, a multi-card reader, built-in webcam three USB ports, Wireless N, Bluetooth and Ethernet connectivity, and Acer's Acer AC adapter. Battery life, meanwhile, is quoted at eight hours with the optional six-cell battery pack.

In addition to the upgraded innards, the system's been given a makeover similar to that of the new Aspire One 533 and will be available in a choice of four colours; Black Flake, Purple Flake, Pink Flake and Charcoal Flake.

There's no mention of pricing as yet, but the Aspire One D260 will be hitting stores on July 1st. Could be mighty interesting if Acer manages to get the Android implementation right.

[Update] *Acer has since informed HEXUS that UK models of the Aspire One D260 won't offer dual-boot functionality and will instead ship with only Windows 7.
