Hoping to get more out of your Crucial M225-series SSD? You might want to upgrade to the latest firmware - version 1819, now available to download at crucial.com/support/firmware.

The release introduces support for Windows 7's TRIM command, in addition to almost 20 enhancements and bug fixes. It sounds like an all-round useful update, but the question is; after Intel's temperamental attempt, are you willing to risk your SSD?

Crucial's latest firmware supports the M225-series SSDs launched back in July and available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities.

Whilst the firmware update is likely to offer the best possible performance from your drive, here's a few Crucial-provided disclaimers to mull over:

WARNING: The firmware update process is done entirely at your own risk. Before initiating the update process be sure to backup or make copies of all important files. If the firmware process is interrupted your solid-state drive may not function properly.

Firmware 1711 - Important Notice:
If your Crucial M225 Solid-State Drive has firmware 1711 you must first revert back to the 1571 firmware prior to updating to the new 1819 version. Please download the 1571 firmware and follow these instructions

Already running firmware 1819? Let us know how you're getting on in the HEXUS.community forums.

Re: News - Crucial firmware update brings Windows 7 TRIM support to M225-series SSDs
I've been running with this on Win 7 for over a week and no problems - performance of the M225 with 1819 has been impressive and consistent.Quote
Re: News - Crucial firmware update brings Windows 7 TRIM support to M225-series SSDs
Many people on the crucial forums are reporting a drop in performance since this firmware upgrade. The previous firmware wasn't too hot either. They don't seem to be very good at this lol I shall do a comparison before and after later this week.Quote

Doh:surprised: I didn't test with the old firmware...... in my haste I just upgraded the firmware, loaded the OS and then tested. From what I remember though the speeds are a tad faster than before yay.
