ASUS has announced today that its diluted Eee PC brand is to receive another upgrade as soon as next month.
This time, however, the upgrade isn't a slew of new models. Instead, the Taiwan-based manufacturer is adding 3.75G connectivity to its existing Eee PC 901 - a very useful upgrade, we feel.
The netbook won't see any other changes, so you can look forward to the same 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB RAM, 8.9in screen and solid-state drive. But with the addition of 3.75G, ASUS states that "the Eee PC will be able to deliver on its promise of borderless one-day computing better than ever before."
It's a positive step for the Eee PC, and a feature that should once again help it stand out from the crowd. Competition, though, will remain strong as Dell has also announced that its 3G-enabled Mini Inspiron 9 will soon be available in the UK from Vodaphone.
ASUS hasn't yet divulged any partnerships with mobile operators, but you can expect those announcements to follow shortly. Those free laptop deals are going to seem a whole lot more appealing as more and more netbooks get built-in 3G.
