Akhter Computers, a UK-based PC manufacturer, has today launched the eco-friendly LoCO2 all-in-one PC.

The system, pictured below, includes stereo speakers, a DVD writer, a 19in monitor, and consumes an average of just 55 watts. In sleep mode, power consumption drops to a measly three watts.

You're probably assuming that it's running some sort of underpowered processor, but that isn't the case. It'll achieve that power efficiency with a 3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo running at its heart.

Akhter Computers claims itself to be the first British company to launch an all-in-one PC that has achieved the Energy Star 4.0 qualification, and states that the LoCO2 PC could reduce power bills to around one third that of the existing desktop PCs.

LoCO2 measures just 85mm in depth, and features a custom-designed cooling system that'll provide near-silent operation and reduced heat. A 250GB hard drive comes as standard, but options up to 1TB are available. The 19in screen offers a 1280x1024 resolution, and an optional touch screen can be used, as well as an external TV tuner.

Graphics, as you'd expect, come in the form of Intel's integrated GMA 3100, and there's HDMI out for output to a bigger screen.

It isn't a bad little system for the green-minded user, but at £539 for the basic 2GHz Celeron-based system, it's a touch pricey. The 3GHz Core 2 Duo model starts at £639.

How can a machine with a 65w CPU use only 55w?

“and consumes an average of just 55 watts”

Thread title is misleading though ;)
Actually doesn't look too bad for an all in one PC, they normally look like crap (Fujitsu, I'm looking at you).

It's an average of 55w so they muct be using some pretty agressive speedstep settings.

or £633.32 and £750.82 respectively in real money. all while looking like the “SUPER DEAL CHEAPEST 19” LCD IN UK!!!" etailers own brand because even if they told you who made it it would mean nothing.
