Harlow, UK – August 26, 2008 - Akhter Computers  launches a unique energy-efficient, integrated PC utilising the new low energy high power Intel® Core™2 Duo processor range running at up to 3.0 GHz. Built as a single unit the LoCO2PC includes performance computer, stereo speakers, DVD writer and 19 inch monitor. The LoCO2PC’s achievement is more outstanding in normal use; it consumes just 55watts for the total PC system including the built-in LCD screen in normal use (less than a conventional light bulb). The power management ensures that while the system is in sleep mode, the power consumption is reduced to just 3W; an advantage where machines need to be left on overnight.

“Intel is delighted to see innovative use of our market-leading technology to deliver innovative solutions to their customers. Energy-efficient performance is a critical element of any environmentally sustainable IT strategy, and compact, energy-efficient machines such the LoCO2PC from Akhter promise to deliver just that, increasing productivity while focusing on reducing energy consumption,” said Graham Palmer, Country Manager for Intel UK and Ireland.

Akhter Computers is the first British Company to launch an integrated computer that has achieved the Energy Star 4.0 qualification.  Energy Star 4.0 is an upgraded environmental standard recently mandated across the EU for all public procurement. Although numerous brands claim to be eco-friendly, the true measure is to have an Energy Star 4.0 certificate, which sets stringent energy efficiency targets. LoCO2PC is the first Energy Star 4.0 approved Integrated PC to run the powerful Intel Core™2 Duo processor at 3.0 GHz, for demanding PC applications.

The LoCO2PC can potentially reduce power bills to around one third that of the existing desktop PCs, that LoCO2PC is set to replace. Organisations that select LoCO2PCs can expect to gain substantial payback through savings on their power bills, estimated at £100 per PC every year. The low power consumption of the LoCO2PC, coupled with custom-designed silent cooling also means reduced heat and noise, and thanks to its integrated design, fewer plugs and leads. Permanently connected external ports are located on the underside of the unit, to make them less accessible and minimise any scope for user interference or accidental dislodging.

The neat slim-line profile All-in-One has few external cables keeping the visual appearance of a room tidy, and creating a safer working environment for all. The concept means that less workspace is occupied than with traditional desktop PCs or tower PCs comprising separate parts. To enhance durability and minimise any risk of damage the LoCO2PC is supplied with hard glass of 8H quality as standard in the high resolution 19 inch monitor (1280 x 1024 resolution).   The all-in-one design is just 85mm in depth, so has a minimal impact on desk surface space, without restricting the leg room under the desk. A built-in Kensington Lock provides added security against theft.
