The folks at Corsair are proving to be relentless in their goal of providing the fastest memory available.

Earlier this year, Corsair's engineers managed to set a world record for DDR3 frequency, and that was almost immediately followed with the launch of its 2,000MHz 4GiB DOMINATOR DDR3 memory kit.

Today, the memory-obsessed manufacturer has raised the bar once again with the launch of the world's fastest DDR3 memory solution in volume production, namely the TW3X2G2133C9DF DOMINATOR.

The 2GiB kit runs at a blazing 2,133MHz, and Corsair tells us it "unleashes the high performance potential of NVIDIA 790i-based platforms." As with all of Corsair's DOMINATOR range, the modules are housed in Corsair’s proprietary Dual-Path Heat Xchange Cooling Technology.

The world's fastest DDR3 memory comes with the usual drawback, at $575, this kit will appeal to only the wealthiest of enthusiasts. Not to mention that you'd need two of these kits, seeing as a mere 2GiBs of RAM is so yesterday.

its all very well having very high speeds on ddr3 but that isnt holding it back at this time, they should be working on latencies as they need sorting alot and once they sort that then maybe ddr3 will become more mainstream.

Looking at the Part no TW3X2G2133C9DF I would guess its CAS9
That is the same latency as DDR2-1066 at CAS 4.5
I'd say that's pretty low latency ;)

ah, i missed that part lol. I guess its not to bad but then they seriously need to work on the price or just lower cas again(if they can) and then hopefully even more people will buy it making it more mainstream.
Nobody in their right mind is going to buy this stuff, Intel CPUs do a fantastic job of keeping the cache filled before the execution units need it, so you're not going to get an incredible performance gain from DDR3, and unless the price comes down very hard to start matching DDR2 prices, it just isn't going to take off in the mainstream market.

The price will come down. That's what computers are all about, really.
