Vendor changes cooler on 7900 GT, world rejoices

HEXUS.CEBIT

Speaking with NVIDIA before the launch of their latest GeForce products, we commented that the reference cooler for 7900 GT and 7600 GT wasn't great and we asked about the likelyhood of NVIDIA's AIB partners changing it for something a bit quieter.

NVIDIA acknowledged it wasn't the best cooler ever created and that, yes, AIBs would likely be looking to change it at some point. CeBit is wall-to-wall reference examples, though, as you wander round the halles and see what's on offer.

That is unless you wander past ASUS, who have something different for 7900 GT. Their new cooler also interfaces with the DRAMs, to cool them, but it doesn't appear - at first glance anyway - that they've changed the fan. We'd love to hear it in the confines of the HEXUS.dungeon, to judge for ourselves. Until we grab a sample and do so, here's a picture.
