Making the case for ENlight

As you may be aware, ENlight makes a number of cases that stand out from the crowd, perhaps the most unusual being its range of LCD PC cases. Visit some big-name PC stores and you'll see that ENlight's LCD PC cases are already being used by a number of system integrators. But you, too, will be able to use them to build customised all-in-one small form-factor (SFF) systems, as our recent review of the 19in ENlight LP791 showed.

The LCD PC case allows the creation of a system with a similar all-in-one design to Apple's iMac range. But, unlike the ready-built iMacs, you get to pick not just the size of the integrated monitor (15in, 17in and 19in are what's currently offered by ENlight) but also whether to opt for touch-screen, soft-screen or hard-screen.

Better still, you can choose to put inside whatever components you want. There are size-restrictions, of course, but no need to use small and expensive hard drives and optical drives.

ENlight, though, is planning to introduce an LCD PC case that really will let you build a dream system and one that's very far from being SFF. It's planning a 32in model, the TVL322, for creating top-flight media-centre PCs that can be stand-mounted or wall-mounted, is claimed to be very quiet running and has HDMI as an option.

At the moment, the TVL322 is scheduled to have an analogue TV tuner built in but we'd hope this might change to become Freeview or dual analogue/digital. This product wasn't on show at the event but we include below some images supplied by ENlight and the general spec.

On the gaming side, ENlight was showing a silver-and-black version and a red-and-black version of a case we'd not seen in the flesh before, the EN-4203 - an enhanced member of the 42 Series of ATX midi towers that's also available in blue-and-black.

The fascia door on the red version, though, looked a little the worse for wear, so we only took shots of the black model.

Among the other goodies on show was a number of BTX cases - the Intel-devised format that ENlight says is at last starting to take off. These included a BTX midi-tower, a micro-BTX tower and a pico-BTX model, the PB-1301. This can be used flat or upright - courtesy of a supplied footstand - and measures just 90(h) x 357(d) x 388(w) mm.

We'll give details of these and other ENlight products in an early follow up but would be delighted in the interim to hear your thoughts in this thread in the HEXUS.news forum.
