Introduction

Having looked at the I845GE chipset last time, now we are going to look at its equivalent without the onboard graphics in the form of the DFI NB78-HL. For anyone that hasn't kept up to date with the different revisions of 845 chipset, this is the latest version released alongside the I845GE.

The benefits include official 333 memory support and Hyperthreading technology support for the 3.06ghz Pentium 4 and higher. Again there are plenty of features onboard such as sound, 10/100 Lan, and USB 2.0 for faster connectivity with external devices.

There are also 6 PCI slots and a 4x AGP slot, plenty on expansion room for anyone not wishing to use the onboard features.

Today we are going to put it through its paces in both DDR266 and DDR333 modes to see how important the extra bandwidth is for system performance.

Enough of this... lets get to the nitty gritty.
