Vivendi has teamed up with Sony Pictures to bring their Ghostbuster franchise to multiple platforms and it's believed that the original cast of Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis will be lending their voices and likenesses to the game.

The story itself will be written specifically for the game by Aykroyd and Ramis, will be set in New York in the 1990s and will be a sequel to Ghostbusters II.

"We noticed we did well on 'Scarface' and were alert for new opportunities to turn iconic film products into games in a way that is a new manifestation of the franchise," Vivendi Games CEO Bruce Hack said. "'Ghostbusters' is unquestionably among the small number of movies in that class."

Vivendi are going to have their work cut out to get anywhere near reproducing Activision's classic Specturm, C64, Atari and Master System game of the 1980's, that was gaming gold, but they'll no doubt throw money at what is bound to be a highly profitable videogame. We can't wait to slime some ghouls again!

Does this mean we'll never see the version that was shown a while ago using the zootfly engine available :(

That is a shame as that video was brilliant and everyone I shown it to was drooling with anticipation.

Here's hoping vivendi are able to fill the void with a worthy game.
