Caped crusaders flies into town

With this notoriously slow period in the videogame release calendar coming to an end, developers are putting the final tweaks to their big titles in preparation for launch in the lead up to the busy period between September and Christmas time.

We’ve been trawling through the exhaustive list of games that are due for release between now and Christmas and there's a lot to get excited about. We've picked the most anticipated games due for release over the next few months, the titles that we're most looking forward to playing. We've handily listed them in chronological order for your viewing pleasure.

Title: Batman Arkam Asylum
Publisher: Warner Bros/Eidos
Developer: RockSteady Studios
Release Date: August 28, 2009

U.K. Marketing Manager for Eidos, Jon Brooke, went on record to claim that his company's upcoming action adventure game is close to gaming perfection. He believes that Batman Arkam Asylum will be the biggest game of the summer.

You can't knock a bloke for being confident, he certainly talks the talk, but one of the best games ever? We'll be reserving judgement until the caped crusader arrives on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 later this month. The first bunch of reviews have already gone live, all rating Batman Arkham Asylum very highly.



Title: Dissidia: Final Fantasy
Developer: Square Enix
Publisher: Square Enix
Release Date: September 4, 2009

Any game that bears the Final Fantasy name attracts a lot of attention. Dissidia: Final fantasy is exclusive to PlayStation Portable and features characters from different Final Fantasy games. Through expansive 3D environments, players can glide through the air, dash along walls and perform summons that will be familiar to fans of the series. Complete with all the character progression and customisation you'd expect Dissidia is expected to deliver the ultimate portable fighting experience.
