Introduction

Rockdirect Pegasus 650 Laptop

In recent months we've taken a look at a few high-end desktop-replacement models from the likes of Dell and Rockdirect. Both companies have confirmed what we've come to believe, that is, that the performance delta between regular PCs and DTR laptops has almost diminished into literally nothing. The downside of housing such power in a 'portable' form factor is weight. Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2 tips the scales at around 4kg and Rockdirect's Xtreme Ti ups the backbreaking ante to 5.7kg. You can have performance and huge wide-aspect displays, sure, but at the obvious cost of portability.

There has to be some middle ground between performance and portability. After all, that's what a laptop is all about; the ability to carry it around with you on a day-to-day basis and still have a chunk of mains-operated power when the need arises. The best of both worlds, if you will.

Rockdirect thinks it has come up with the perfect compromise between performance and portability, and the end result is a laptop with a few new tricks that we've not seen thus far. Come with us as we take the Rockdirect Pegasus 650 for a review spin.
