Introduction

ABIT Fatal1ty X800 XL 512MB

HEXUS Towers is a busy place. The number of graphics cards that pass through our doors has steadily grown over the past 6 years. We like to think that we've seen every corner and segment of the market. Lately, though, reviewing graphics cards has become rather tedious, truth be told. Board partners tend to adhere to reference designs to the letter, leaving one card looking, and performing, much like countless others. It's really been a case of placing a number of big-name partners in a hat, picking one out, and ending up with a reference design.

Another ATI Radeon X800 XL 512MB card landed recently. This time, however, the board partner was ABIT, and the card was its first Fatal1ty edition based on the ATi X800 Series; the same branding as used on its excellent, performance-orientated motherboards. ABIT adds some novel features to this model, so we were only too glad to take it for a review spin. Read on to find out if it's the card for you.
