EPoX 'GLI' hints at upcoming release of SLI driver that works on all supporting core logic

I'm posting this from China, having escaped the clutches of Taipei and Computex to take in some mainboard manufacturing in Shenzhen. However, just before I left I had a nice chat with EPoX, who showed me their latest i945P board. Look closely at the mainboard below and you'll see a pair of PEG16X electrical slots for graphics boards. The first is connected to the PCI Express controller on the i945P, the second is fed by 4 lanes from the ICH7R.

GLI

The interesting thing about the board, labelled with the moniker GLI, is that EPoX claim they have SLI up and running with it, using a modified driver. Pair that knowledge that VIA have SLI running on K8T890 and if I were a betting man, I'd put a wee bit of money on NVIDIA releasing a driver that enables SLI on any mainboard that sports a pair of PCI Express root ports, regardless of who makes the core logic.

EPoX had some other really interesting boards on show at Computex, which I'll endeavour to get in for a mini-roundup review. It's a shame that they've pulled out of the U.K. retail market (or so I hear), on the basis of a strong Computex showing. More on EPoX in coming weeks.
