Review: ATI CATALYST 5.1 Performance Analysis

Introduction

A new year, another month, another CATALYST release from ATI. Yes, it's that time again, where the Canadian company releases the latest in their monthly driver updates, and ATI users clamour to download said drivers. Being as it is the first month of 2005, we find that this newest release is CATALYST 5.1 - For those of you unfamiliar with ATI's driver nomenclature, the 5 denotes the year (i.e. the 5 in 2005), and the number following the point denotes the month of release (.1 being January, obviously).

Last month, we took a look at the performance of CATALYST 4.12 in comparison to previous releases, and today we'll be carrying out some testing in the same vein, to see how this new release compares to the last couple of driver sets as well as looking at what's new in this release. So, without further ado, let's move straight on to the numbers...
