IDF 2004: Introduction

Intel Developer Forum is one of those events that something exciting always happens at. Someone usually announces something new and exciting and more often than not it's Intel themselves, keen to show off their wares.

Held in sunny San Francisco, usefully away from the current bad weather on the opposite coast, IDF is a chance for Intel to sit down and explain to the industry where it's at as a company, display products and technologies, liase with partners and let them show off stuff based on Intel hardware, software and base technology.

Flying in journalists from all round the world, it's always one of the most widely covered big events in the online technology press and this year is no exception. Everyone from the mighty BBC, right down to our lowly publication, is there at Intel's request, and that's just from the U.K.

Intel fly in their top engineers, product managers and developers from all over the world to each international IDF event, gi
ving attendees the chance to mix and swap ideas and information with the right people, so there's always a nice story for folks like us.

To that end, we've sent our esteemed Commander In Chief, Lord Ross of Purton, to IDF this year to cover things for us. Here's to IDF being a bit more exciting than the recent ECTS. Our coverage starts now, stay tuned!
