Introduction

ABIT Radeon 9600 XT 256MB Video Card (R9600XT-VIO)

Graphics card technology has been moving swiftly recently. You take a short break and come back to find ATI's Radeon 9800 XT firmly relegated to mid-catalogue status. NVIDIA's GeForce 6800s and ATI's X800 XTs set the performance bar right now. However, prudent observers will soon realise that both top-end cards are scarcer than a HEXUS 10/10. That's the way it is with modern technology, that is, GPUs are reviewed to critical acclaim yet retail samples take an age to appear in the right channels.

Also, not everyone has £400 to spend on a graphics card. That's the price of a reasonable system, really. ATI's Radeon 9600 XT GPU has been garnering decent sales in the ~£100 category for some time now. Efficient design and acceptable DX9 performance makes it a good choice for gamers who use lower resolutions (limited by TFTs) and little image enhancement.
