DDR3 has received the OCZ Technology treatment today, with the company excitedly announcing two Gold Series SKUs based on the new memory standard.

OCZ Technology Gold Series DDR3 parts announced today will be available in either 1 or 2GB Dual Channel kit configurations, are hand tested state the company and will allow ardent enthusiasts to take advantage of Intel's P35 platform.

The highest speed grade offered today is the PC3-10666 part, running at 1333MHz whilst offering timings of 9-9-9-26. Taking advantage of the lower voltage requirements of DDR3 memory, finds the PC3-10666 demanding only 1.60V.

The modules feature cooling courtesy of OCZ's XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreaders which, in line with the modules being a member of the Gold Series family, have been adorned with gold coloured layering. The company's renowned XTC heatspreaders allow for effective dissipation of heat through the honeycomb design implemented, whilst the micro convection aspect aims to improve airflow in what is usually, the dead air space, part of normal heatspreader designs.

Speeds of PC3-8500 are offered by the second part announced by OCZ today. Running at 1066MHz, the timings boasted are 7-7-7-21 with a requirement again, of 1.60V as the power source.

OCZ's XTC heatspreaders, featuring the same special gold coloured layering and thermal dissipation properties, are present on this part as well, together with the presence of OCZ's lifetime warranty on both offerings.

The company go on to explain that 100% hand testing of the modules ensures not only quality, but also compatibility with the latest Intel P35 motherboards.

im sure DDR2 didnt have superb timings when it first come out, give it some time…. though i wont be upgrading again after i got my C2D for about another five years…. computers r too expensive, expecially when you get pennies for that brand new item you bought 3 months before you sold it
