Overall Thermal Results

Our overall thermal-placings were based on the total readings across idle and load for CPU and the other elements. Here are the top five placings.

5th place - Zalman 9700

Zalman has managed to improve upon the 9500 with the 9700 and that includes slightly better thermal performance, too, earning it fifth place.

4th place - Titan Amanda

The most expensive cooler here only picks up fourth place. Even though our set-up was pretty toasty, we feel that this cooler will only come into its own when things get toastier still under some severe overclocking.

3rd place - Tuniq Tower 120

The popular Tuniq Tower 120 takes third, with impressive capabilities when put under pressure; the thermal results for this cooler were impressive indeed.

2nd place - Scythe Miné

So much for Infinity being the high-performance choice in Scythe's range - the Miné comes in above it and is not just a solid performer but one that also carries a more-than-reasonable price.

1st place - Thermaltake Big Typ VX

Possibly the underdog in most people's eyes, especially as some hardware sites refuse to test Thermaltake products. It sticks two fingers in the air at those who underestimate its capabilities. The Big Typ VX takes the first-place crown for overall thermal performance.
