Straight out the gate and a disappointment.

The NX8600GTS is comfortably ahead of the 7600GT at 1280x1024 4xAA 8xAF, but well behind the iChiLL 7900GS and Radeon EAX1950PRO, both of which are cheaper.

As the resolution is increased to 1600x1200 and anti-aliasing is disabled all the DX9 parts see 10-20 per cent performance increases, yet the 8600GTS sees no improvement at all.

This could be indicative of a driver glitch or, more worryingly, a bottleneck elsewhere on the card; perhaps the 128-bit memory interface holding it back against its 256-bit opposition.
