Press Release

[11 April 2007] - Kingston Technology, the world's leading independent memory manufacturer and specialist retailer MyMemory Limited, today unveiled the industry’s first Flash memory vending machine at the North Terminal, Gatwick Airport.  The joint venture will see Kingston Technology’s comprehensive range of Flash memory products including; SD cards, CompactFlash cards and DataTraveler USB drives sold via MyMemory vending machines in high-traffic public spaces across the UK.

MyMemory vending machines will be placed in all major airports, mainline stations and underground stations, with additional high-traffic venues to follow later in the year.  The move to vending machines is in direct response to changing consumer lifestyle habits, a greater emphasis on convenience and increased demand for high capacity Flash memory products.

Ann Keefe, Director of Sales UK & Ireland at Kingston Technology believes that responding to customers needs has always been the key to Kingston’s success, “Our consumers are telling us they want greater storage capacity for their mobile phones, digital cameras and USB drives to store music, images, games, videos and personal data.”  She continues, “They want instant access to SD cards and USB drives as they need them 24/7, so vending machines in public spaces was the most obvious solution.  We’re delighted to be working with industry leader MyMemory to meet this growing demand.”

MyMemory Limited will be responsible for stocking the vending machines on a daily basis and will monitor sales remotely using new telemetry technology.  MyMemory’s unique memory selector will be integrated into all vending machines to give customers the confidence they are purchasing the correct memory card for their device.

Karl Moss, Managing Director of MyMemory Limited believes, “As a longstanding partner of Kingston, we’re delighted to be providing the first vending machines to offer ‘Chip and PIN’ access to high value memory products.  This is also great news for consumers, as it offers them a fast, convenient and secure way of buying the very best Flash memory products on the market via our machines.”
