Computer Supermarket is making some huge claims for a slim, 4GB music and video player. The company says that its MP4 Player has "a similar look and feel to an iPod nano" yet sells for £49 [plus £5.49 for delivery], rather than £129 [with free delivery], and "matches the Nano on attributes" but with the added bonus of a 50-preset FM radio with recording functionality.

According to the company - which doesn't actually list what types of audio or video the product can handle - other key features include:

* 1.8 inch LCD screen
* Ultra slim case - just 5mm thick (versus nano at 7.5mm)
* Stores up to 1000 tracks
* Rechargeable lithium ion battery, chargeable by PC or wall adapter included
* Connecting cables and headphones included
* Dictaphone-type functionality
* Photo-album feature
* Audio book allows downloading and playing of spoken books and TV/radio shows
* Available in Black, Blue, Red and Silver

Just heard back from the company that the player can handle the following file formats - MP3, WMA, AMV, WMV, ACF, AVI - and it says it will try to provide specifics on Codecs and compression levels tomorrow.

Check out the company's press release, then share your thoughts in the HEXUS.community.

How long till Apple sue the pants off them?

Heh, true..

Isn't the scroll wheel patented by apple ?
These have been out for quite a while now. The landlord at my local has been selling them since before christmas. They aren't under that name (they have loads of far eastern characters on the boxes) but have the same menu/screen and the buttons and jacks are all the same.

Problem is they are slow and clunky, finding music is a pain and they just don't feel intuitive. As much as I don't like ipod's that much they are far better than this.

Oh yeah and they have sudoku on them.
If I register “applepod.co.uk” and sell these do you think I'll be ok? :)
